Being our first entry on the Kaapsehoop blog we decided to talk about Ripley who belongs to J.C. the towns' guide and employee of Scootours.

Ripley is adventurous, playful and curious. She is often challenged when hiking with J.C. to connect dots when facing heights on the rocks. J.C. is always there to patiently guide her down.

Initially a stray taken into the care of an animal shelter having had malnutrition and a severe lice infestation in her coat. J.C. decided to adopt and take care of her after the tragic loss of his doberman pincher named Ghost who had been legendary amongst the mountain folk.

Almost nine months old and impressively more attractive than the day of adoption. You will always find Ripley by J.C's side when visiting the mountain; their bond unique and unlike one you have ever seen.

Aloe

"You don't find trouble; trouble finds to you." Aloe is one of the first dogs I met when I came to Kaapsehoop. She loved to go on great adventures with hikers and I would say she is a great ambassador of the village by showing tourists around and overall being very independent. Being smart and independent does have it's advantages when you aren't guarding your food bowl! Everytime I visited her she would immediately dart for her food as if it were gold newly discovered by a lonely prospector. Very intelligent and quick to take advantage of any opportunity present specially at Salvadors pub which would explain her expanding waistline. Aloe is one of my absolute favourite local dogs in Kaapsehoop.

Come to Kaapsehoop and meet our local Dachshund named Potlood, the proud owner of the Nagkantoor and De Wet Potgieter, his faithful companion. 😁 Kaapsehoop, historically a mining village that lies at the heart of South Africa, Mpumalanga province. This village is well known for its wild horses roaming the streets, beautiful surrounding scenery, breathtaking sunsets, pounding waterfalls and The Blue Swallow Reserve.
